One suspect has been charged with murder and another is still at large after a man was found dead in a Hamilton apartment building early Sunday morning.

Police said they responded to calls for a disturbance and possible shots fired around 1 a.m. and found a 23-year-old man dead in the building at 130 St. Joseph's Drive.

The victim, identified as Shaheen Sherzady, lived in the apartment building.

The Emergency Response Unit saw two males leaving the area, and ordered them to stop - both fled.

Police arrested one of the men, a 23-year-old, a short distance away in a schoolyard, Det. Sgt. Ian Matthews said.

Omar Williams of Brampton has been charged with first-degree murder. Police continue to search for a second suspect who was allegedly with Williams at the time of the offence

Hamilton's major crimes unit is investigating. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers.
