A man believed to be in his 20s has been found dead in Toronto’s east end.

Police say his body was discovered early Sunday morning near McCowan Road and Highway 401 in Scarborough, where officers were responding to an assault-in-progress call.

The man had “apparent injuries to the chest,” according to a statement from Toronto Police Services. The death has been deemed suspicious.

Police said the victim’s identity will not be released until next of kin are notified.

A stretch of McCowan Road southbound is closed from Milner Avenue to Highway 401 for the police investigation. It’s unclear when the lanes will open again.
