Police are investigating after a man's body was found off of a roadway north of Toronto Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a citizen found the body in Vaughan, in the area of Highway 7 and Keele Street, shortly after noon. Police have not identified the man. It is believed he didn't die recently.

"(Police) have determined that the deceased is a man and appears to have been there for some time," investigators said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

A coroner has been called to the scene. It is not yet clear how the man died.
