Police are searching for a male suspect wanted in connection with a rush-hour shooting on Highway 427 in Mississauga.

In a statement released on Thursday, Peel Regional Police say the shooting happened south of Dixon Road at approximately 5 p.m. on Jan. 26. Two black-coloured vehicles, a sedan and an SUV were involved in the shooting.

Police say an occupant in the sedan discharged a firearm towards the SUV. Both vehicles then merged onto Highway 401 and were observed crashing into each other. Police say no injuries have been reported.

The sedan sustained damage and was later abandoned on the shoulder of the highway. Police say the SUV fled the scene.

The suspect who was in the sedan has been identified as Shuhja Morrison, 21, of Brampton. He is wanted on a number of firearm offences. Police warn that he is "armed and dangerous."
