Police will hold a news conference this afternoon, where they are expected to release surveillance camera images of a suspect in a brazen murder at a Weston Road pizza place.

Police previously said that the suspect walked into a Pizza Pizza in the area of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue at around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday and shot 17-year-old Jarryl Hagley who was eating with friends.

Police said that Hagley then ran to a back washroom to flee from his attackers but collapsed and lost consciousness a short time later. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Speaking with CP24 on Sunday, Hagley’s stepmother Trisha Samuels said the teen was a ‘kind guy’ who never failed to lend a hand to those who needed help.

“He hugs everybody," she said.

Police have told CP24 that they believe the shooting was targeted, however a motive in the case has not been disclosed.

At today’s news conference, police are expected to release surveillance camera images of a suspect and a suspect vehicle.

The news conference is expected to get underway at 1 p.m.
