Peel Police say they have made between 10 and 12 arrests in connection with the theft of 9 firearms in Brampton Friday morning.

Thomas Ruttan of Peel Regional said investigators have also recovered one of the firearms and are waiting on several warrants in order to search other locations they believe may be relevant in the case.

No charges have been laid at this point.

Earlier on Friday, police said nine guns were stolen during a morning break-and-enter in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police said the incident happened at a home on Myna Court, near Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive, between 6 and 7 a.m. on Friday. The homeowners told police a vehicle had been stolen, along with nine guns that were kept in the house.

Police said they believe the five rifles and four handguns that were reported stolen were legally registered and stored at the time.

A few hours after the robbery, police were called to the area of Moffatt Avenue and Tait Boulevard, approximately 12 kilometres south of the break-and-enter.

Officers were told a newer model white vehicle had pulled up, and a man got out of the car. He produced a handgun and robbed a victim of some jewelry, police said. No one was injured in the incident.

The stolen vehicle has been described as a white Volkswagen Jetta station wagon with an Ontario licence plate that reads "RWE1." It was recovered by police on McHardy Court, but it was empty, and there were no firearms in the vehicle.

It is believed that the incidents are connected. Anyone with more information is asked to contact Peel police.
