Toronto police released a photograph on Saturday of a man believed to have stabbed a TTC operator in a dispute over bus fare.

The photograph, taken from one a security camera on board the bus, shows a dark-haired man in hooded sweater as he boarded a Scarborough bus, Friday night.

Toronto Police said a man stabbed a 50-year-old bus driver after he boarded a bus and a fare dispute occurred.

The incident happened shortly after 7:38 p.m. in the area of Brimley Road and Steeles Avenue East.

The man allegedly pulled a knife and attacked the driver after he rejected an expired transfer and ordered the man off the bus. The suspect then fled on foot.

The driver received non-life threatening injuries to his hand and leg.

"An operator is assaulted, on average, twice a day, on the TTC. So that is a concern to us," TTC spokesman Brad Ross told CTV's John Musselman.

Police are asking the public for help in their search for the suspect. Police caution that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as an Asian male and about 30-40 years of age. He is clean shaven and has short black hair.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue sweater with white lettering on the front, and was carrying a black backpack.
