Two Orillia residents are the province’s newest millionaires after winning a $25-million Lotto Max Jackpot from a draw on Friday.

Susannah and Ron Higgs picked up their cheque at Toronto’s OLG Prize Centre on Monday.

Susannah told reporters that she initially thought the “$25 million” she saw flashing on the ticker self-checker was an advertisement for an upcoming jackpot.

“When the bells and whistles went off at the terminal, I watched as my daughter ran around the store all excited realizing that I had the winning ticket,” Susannah said.

Susannah, 56, works for an engineering company while her husband, Ron, 59, works as a steel manufacturer.

The couple has already decided to give away more than $12 million to family members.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Daisy Mart in Orillia.
