HAMILTON - Hamilton police have laid more charges in connection with the discovery of two boys in a basement stained with urine and feces.

The boys, aged two and five, were found April 2 in conditions so appalling that police said they had trouble breathing and seeing when they entered the basement.

The children's 35-year-old father, 27-year-old mother and 60-year-old grandmother were later charged with forcible confinement.

The grandmother was also charged with assault.

Police said Wednesday that all three are now also charged with two counts each of failure to provide the necessities of life and child abandonment.

Six children aged two to 13 lived in the home in Stoney Creek, east of Hamilton, and all are now in the care of the Children's Aid Society.
