LINCOLN, Neb. - A 44-year-old man from Canada has been given 37 months in federal prison for helping grow marijuana in Nebraska.

The Lincoln Journal Star says Bans Truong was sentenced Tuesday.

His lawyer described Truong as the gardener for three of the houses that were uncovered in Lincoln.

A drug task force found more than 2,200 plants and 1.7 kilograms of harvested marijuana in searches in March 2010.

Truong, who is from Mississauga, Ont., was arrested in March 2010. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

His lawyer says Truong was just the gardener for the operation, who watered and re-potted the plants.
