One man is dead and another is in hospital after a shooting at a North York townhouse complex early Saturday morning.

Police arrived at the complex on Tobermory Drive near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West at about 2 a.m. after witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots fired in the area.

Bystanders told police they saw six males running from the scene shortly after the gunshots were fired.

Christopher Rookwood, 20, of Toronto was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Toronto police said.

Hours later, a man arrived at Humber River Regional Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Initial reports suggest he was shot in the leg.

"We believe there is a relationship between his injuries and the incident," Staff Sgt. Frank Barredo told CTVToronto.ca.

Barredo said the man has been uncooperative with police. He added that right now little is known about how he sustained the gunshot wound.

The circumstances behind the Tobermory Drive shooting are not yet known. Homicide investigators are now looking into the incident.
