A man has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in the city’s east end Friday afternoon.

The 25-year-old victim was shot at least once in the torso while having his hair done at Pizzazz Unlimited, located at 1252 Danforth Ave., just west of Greenwood Avenue, at around 3 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene told CP24 that a male walked into the salon and shot the victim before fleeing out the back of the building on foot.

There were other customers and employees inside the salon at the time of the shooting, Toronto police Sgt. Paul Strangways said.

“They are currently cooperating with police, and detectives are speaking with them at this time,” he said of the witnesses.

Strangways would not comment on whether the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The suspect is described by police as black, wearing a blue T-shirt, a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack.

Canine units are currently at the scene assisting police in their search for the suspect.
