A man in his 30s died early Sunday morning after an apparent drive-by shooting in Woodbridge, Ont.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday night in front of a house on Grandvista Crescent, in an upscale neighbourhood near Pine Valley Drive and Rutherford Road.

York Regional Police said a man was found with several gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital, where he died.

Officials said they are looking for two suspects in a white Honda vehicle. A detailed description of the suspects has not been released.

Neighbours in nearby homes said they didn't hear the gunshots at the time of the shooting because it was raining.

"I thought it was lightning but it could have been gunshot itself. By the time I looked out window I thought, ‘Who's firing off fireworks in the rain?" said one neighbour.

Police have not released the name of the victim but neighbours said the man lived in the Grandvista Crescent home located steps away from where he was shot. They said the man had lived there for a while with his wife and young son.

Police searched the area's streets for evidence on Sunday afternoon. Det. Joe Tanczos said officers are also trying to find out if neighbours have any further information.

"Right now we're conducting a canvass of all residents up and down (the) street," he said.

Anyone with more information is asked to call York Regional Police at 1-866-8POLICE or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS.
