VAUGHAN, Ont. - Provincial police say a man was charged with drinking and driving twice within 24 hours.

Police say a van was stopped in Vaughan, north of Toronto, early Tuesday for speeding and the driver was subsequently charged with having a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, driving while suspended and speeding.

Investigators determined the 61-year-old man from Penetanguishene had been charged with impaired driving in Toronto the previous day.

At that time, the man's vehicle was impounded for seven days and he was released on a promise to appear in court March 2.

On Tuesday, he was held for a bail hearing in Newmarket and a second vehicle impounded for seven days.
