A man who was viciously beaten with a baseball bat late Wednesday night has died from his injuries.

Police have not said if they have arrested a suspect, though witnesses say they saw a man in his 20s run from the scene with a baseball bat in hand.

The fight happened on Queen Street East, between Sherbourne and Seaton Streets, at around 9:30 p.m.

The victim, who is believed to be in his 30s, was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital with critical injuries.

The area was closed overnight as police investigated the scene and searched for a suspect who was described as being a white male, about 5'10" with a thin build. He was wearing a plaid jacket at the time.
