A man arrested in Toronto on unrelated charges is now believed to be linked to several armed robberies, according to police.

The man was arrested on Friday, for "obtaining food and lodging through fraudulent means," Toronto police said in a statement. As officers investigated the suspect, they found links to other crimes in the Toronto area.

Police said the suspect is now facing charges in connection with two Toronto convenience store robberies that took place on June 7 and 9. Victims told police the robberies were committed by a man armed with a large knife.

The suspect is also facing several charges in connection with robberies in Lindsay, Peterborough and Durham Region.

Cody Fountain, a 24-year-old from Lindsay, has been charged with fraudulently obtaining food and lodging, obstructing a police officer, three counts of robbery, and three counts of possession of dangerous weapons.
