His nickname is "Lucky" and a lottery ticket proved the moniker to be true for a man last Saturday.

Luckyrajah Paramanathan, 43, cashed in an $18 million Lotto 6/49 ticket, allowing him to now bring his wife and two sons to Canada from their home in Sri Lanka.

Paramanathan moved to Canada six years ago. He has been buying lottery tickets and working two jobs since then in an effort to reunite with his family.

He said his wife was "shocked" to hear of his big win, the Toronto Star reported. She will soon fly to Canada to help him celebrate.

Lucky cleans swimming pools on contract for the city of Toronto. Plus, he has a job as a maintenance worker at an apartment building. Together, Lucky earns about $48,000 a year from his jobs and has been sharing an apartment with a friend.

He has not decided whether he will quit the jobs.

Once his wife and two sons, ages 10 and 7, come to Canada, Lucky plans to move out of the apartment and buy a house.

The winning ticket was a free play Lucky won from a previously purchased ticket.
