TORONTO - Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Aaron Hill is going on the 15-day disabled list with a strained hamstring.

Jays manager John Farrell made the announcement before Sunday's game against Tampa Bay at Rogers Centre.

Toronto also announced it will call up Jesse Litsch to start Tuesday's game on the road against Texas.

Hill was removed from last Tuesday's 6-4 win over the New York Yankees after he strained his lower right hamstring while stealing a base in the sixth inning.

Hill is batting .242 with no home runs and nine runs batted in. The move to the DL would be retroactive to last Wednesday.

Litsch was sent on option to triple-A Las Vegas last Tuesday after going 1-1 with a 3.63 earned-run average in three starts in Toronto.

Normally he would have to wait for 10 days before being recalled but an exception is made when a player is replacing another player on the 25-man roster who has been put on the DL.
