Police arrested four people in connection with an extortion incident involving the Hells Angels and the transfer of a liquor licence of a bar between the new and old owners.

Hamilton police said there was a dispute between the previous and the present owners of an east Hamilton bar.

Police allege the new owners recruited members of the Hells Angels to assault and force the previous owners to sign liquor licence transfer documents. Police said the victims received minor injuries.

Linda Muraca, 54, and Dennis Dreher, 52, the owners of the bar, have been charged with three counts of extortion.

James Sherwood, 41, and Joel Rollin, 28, two Hamilton Hells Angels members have been charged with three counts of extortion, two counts of assault and one count of break and enter with intent.

All four Hamilton residents were arrested on Aug. 10. Sherwood and Rollin remain in custody and are scheduled for a bail hearing on Aug. 18.
