HAMILTON, Ont. - Hamilton police have arrested a man accused of using a hand-held device to skim information from credit cards of gas station customers.

Police say the device was small enough that customers would not see it.

Information collected with the device was used to make duplicate cards, which were used for fraudulent purchases.

Police say reported frauds so far total $40,000.

Islam Salha, 23, of Hamilton, has been charged with several fraud counts, possession of a credit card copying device and possession of identity information for the purpose of trafficking.

He was due in court today for a bail hearing.
