The Lakeshore East GO Train line in Scarborough is currently shut down as police are investigating a fatal collision between a train and pedestrian.

GO Transit said Tuesday it has limited information about the incident.

Toronto Police say they received the call at 1:46 p.m. The train struck a male pedestrian.

The incident happened near Manse Road and Copperfield Road, which is east of Morningside Avenue and just north of the lake. The train was headed for Oshawa. The closest GO station is Guildwood.

Police and EMS are on scene. The train's locomotive is stopped about four car lengths from the crossing.

GO spokesperson Robin Alam told ctvtoronto.ca that one of two track is open through the area and that trains are moving in both directions as of late afternoon, although there are delays.

"We still have our TTC protocol in effect," he said. That means people can use GO tickets free of charge on the TTC to make their way to Scarborough then take a GO bus to Oshawa. "It's another way to get people home as soon as possible," he said.

GO commuters are asked to check the service's website for information about delays.
