The family of a Vaughan teenager killed in a freak accident earlier this week has said goodbye to her.

A funeral service was held Saturday at St. Clare of Assisi Parish Church in Woodbridge for Rose Mandarino, 16, who died Tuesday after being hit by a SUV after a two-vehicle collision.

She had been waiting to cross the street with her twin brother. The two had been walking home from school.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Langstaff and Ansley Grove Roads at about 4:15 p.m.

A Buick Regal driven by a 72-year-old Woodbridge man tried to turn left onto Ansley Grove. The Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 48-year-old Woodbridge woman, collided with the Buick, then hopped the curb and struck Mandarino as she stood on the corner.

Neither driver was injured.

York Regional Police have not yet said whether there will be charges.
