Residents of a senior's-dominant complex in west Toronto have been without hot water since last Saturday, and their ordeal isn't over yet.

"In order to bathe here, you have to boil pots and pots of water," Debbie Valenti, a resident of the Swansea Town Hall residences, told CTV Toronto on Friday.

"We have people in here that are quite infirm, some are shut-ins, and they are unable to boil water and carry it and give themselves a proper sponge bath."

As for a cold shower, Valenti showed the water pressure to be quite low.

The building is located at 93 Lavinia Avenue, which lies several blocks southeast of the intersection of Bloor Street West and Windermere Avenue.

DMS, the company managing the property, has told the tenants it must get a new boiler built from scratch.

However, it doesn't know when the boiler will arrive.

There are public showers at a nearby pool, but some residents say that's not an option for those who have mobility issues or who are otherwise ill.

Florence Calwell, another resident, said she's happy to be going away for the weekend.
