Toronto fire crews battled a two-alarm blaze early Friday morning after flames erupted in the attic of a downtown Baptist church.

Emergency crews rushed to the First Baptist Church on Huron Street, north of Dundas Street West shortly after 7 a.m. to find heavy smoke billowing from the church's roof.

Toronto Fire said the blaze was knocked down after a tense battle; investigators combed through the scene and believe an electrical malfunction caused the fire.

No injuries were reported in the early-morning incident.
