KINGSTON, Ont. - Police in Kingston, Ont., say some creative editing of provincial election signs has led officers to a marijuana grow operation.

Investigators say an officer saw a 35-year-old man using a marker to change the facial characteristics of candidates' photos on election signs.

Police say the man was detained on Wednesday, but they received information that caused them concern for the well-being of a person at the man's apartment.

Officers who went to check the apartment discovered what appeared to be a marijuana grow-op.

A warrant was obtained and more than 30 plants and grow paraphernalia were seized.

Michael Dalton remains in custody charged with mischief under $5,000, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, and unlawfully producing marijuana.
