The morning commute was severely disrupted Monday when a delivery truck caught fire on the Gardiner Expressway.

Traffic became snarled when police closed the Gardiner in both directions between Parkside Drive and Jameson Avenue to allow firefighters to extinguish the blaze in the eastbound lanes.

Making matters worse, Lake Shore Boulevard had to be shut down west of Jameson because the road was blocked by firefighters’ hoses and emergency vehicles.

By 9:15 a.m., the Gardiner had partially reopened in both directions. The highway then fully reopened at around 10 a.m.
