ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- A defence lawyer is facing an intimidation charge in connection with an incident at a St. Catharines, Ont., courthouse.

Niagara Region police say the incident involving a local defence attorney and a federal Crown attorney happened Feb. 26 at the provincial courthouse in the southern Ontario city.

Police say the incident occurred during open court proceedings but had no further details.

Joseph Ronald Charlebois, 71, was arrested Monday and has been charged with one count of intimidation of a justice system participant.

Charlebois has been released on a promise to appear in court at a later date to answer the charge.
