Police have identified a 21-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death inside a west-end apartment building Monday evening.

Haleema Kasana, known as "Nadia" to her friends, was found dead at around 8:17 p.m. inside an apartment on Finch Avenue West, near Weston Road.

An autopsy revealed that she died from multiple stab wounds to the torso.

Friends of Kasana told CTV Toronto Tuesday that she lived alone and worked as a cashier at the nearby Esso gas station.

Johnny Thomas, manager of the station, told CTV Toronto that he was suspicious when she didn't show up for her shift on Monday as Kasana is one of his most reliable employees.

A regular customer of the gas station said he remembered the woman well.

"I'm really, really shocked," said Rick Ziaei. "I would see her from time to time. I work next door and I come here to get gas and coffee. She was very young, very kind, very quiet lady.

"I can't believe this happened," he added.

Police have not made any arrests in the murder and are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about the case. Investigators can be reached at 416-808-7400 and anonymous tips can be left with Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
