TORONTO - The local Canadian Auto Workers president leading the fight to stop General Motors from closing an Ontario truck plant says the battle is "far from over.''

Chris Buckley, president of CAW Local 222 in Oshawa, Ont., says the union will comply with an injunction ordering a blockade of the company's Canadian headquarters be lifted as of 7 a.m. E.T. on Monday morning.

But he says people should "stay tuned'' because the union has more plans in store.

The blockade erupted June 4 after the company announced plans to shut down its Oshawa truck plant, axing 2,600 jobs.

GM has said the decision to close the Oshawa plant and three others in North America came after a sudden collapse in the U.S. market for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles.

Lawyers for the automaker filed an injunction request with the courts Thursday, arguing the protest is keeping 900 people away from work and hampering day-to-day operations.
