Toronto police have arrested Jason Wallace, father of baby Kaylee, following a weekend incident involving a downtown hospital.

Police said Monday that the incident occurred Saturday evening, with the alleged threats being uttered over the phone.

They picked Wallace up on Sunday at 1 a.m., and he made a court appearance the same day, having been charged with threatening death and damage.

Police haven't revealed the identity of the alleged victim, who called police to report the incident.

Baby Kaylee is an infant with a condition known as Joubert Syndrome. It is a brain condition that causes her to stop breathing when she falls asleep.

At one point this past spring, Kaylee's parents thought she would die. They wanted her heart to go to another baby, Lillian O'Connor. This triggered a controversy about how organ donations are to be allocated.

However, Kaylee managed to keep breathing on her own and doctors at the Hospital for Sick Children pronounced that baby Kaylee was no longer a candidate to provide a donor heart. Baby Lillian eventually received a heart from another infant.

In mid-May, the hospital discharged baby Kaylee, who got a donated helicopter ride to take her home to Bradford, about 70 kilometres north of Toronto.

Since then, the little girl has had to return to hospital numerous times due to her medical difficulties.

Kaylee's parents, Wallace and Crystal Vitelli, had a stormy relationship with the Hospital for Sick Children. At one point, the hospital had Wallace removed from one meeting. The parents in turn had demanded Kaylee be transferred to another hospital.
