Cadbury Adams Canada has issued an Easter weekend recall on one of the most popular seasonal candy items on the market, Cadbury Mini Eggs.

People with nut allergies are advised to stay away from the chocolate-centred treats, which may contain hazelnut protein not listed on the packaging.

The warning came after someone became ill after eating some Mini Eggs, according to the CFIA. Its website says people specifically allergic to hazelnuts could suffer life-threatening reactions.

The recall has been issued on 39-gram packages of regular milk chocolate Cadbury Mini Eggs with the UPC code "0 61200 08021 6" or lot codes "02457T" or "02357T."

Consumers who have purchased the product can call Cadbury Adams at 1-866-782-3267 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET or the Canadian Food Inspection Agency at 1-800-442-2342 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday.
