A 51-year-old Milton woman is facing charges after police say she struck a child with her minivan and then fled the scene.
Police say an eight-year-old girl was hit by a red Chrysler minivan on Thursday morning at the intersection of Derry Road and Holly Avenue in Milton.
It is believed that the girl was crossing on a walk signal when the collision occurred.
Police say the girl was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle and onto the roadway. She received minor injuries as a result of the collision.
On Friday, police identified the driver of the minivan as Heather Eige.
Eige faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act, including failing to remain at the scene of an accident, careless driving and driving while suspended.
