Toronto police are being tight-lipped at the scene of a possible triple murder in the city's east end.

CTV Toronto's Roger Petersen, reporting from the scene late Monday, said police are not even confirming that they are investigating a murder.

"Although unconfirmed reports we have indicate three people were killed and a fourth person was taken to hospital," he said.

All three victims may be women.

Police are actively searching for a suspect, he said, adding they have set up roadblocks.

"What police are doing right now is we have our police dogs out, our k-9 services, and our emergency task force, and they are searching for the suspect," said Sgt. Andrew Ecklund of the Toronto Police Service. "The information we have is that he is possibly armed."

York Region's police helicopter has joined in to help the Toronto police search.

The call first came in around 9 p.m. from Knowles Drive in the Finch and Morningside area.

Neighbours reported hearing loud shouting.

"Police arrived and found a young woman with a deep cut to her hand," Petersen said. "It's believed she had fled from 35 Knowles to 32 Knowles."

When police went back to 35 Knowles, they found the bodies, and that triggered the large-scale manhunt, he said.

Petersen said police don't have enough information yet to release a description of their suspect.
