A man and two youths have been charged in connection with the street muggings of three female seniors.

Toronto Police said Tuesday that the incidents occurred earlier this month in Scarborough.

On Aug. 9 at 3:30 p.m., three males approached a 66-year-old woman out walking in the Brimorton Drive and Dolly Varden Road area and allegedly attempted to grab her purse.

She resisted. "The victim was then pushed to the ground and robbed of her purse," police allege, adding she suffered minor injuries.

On Aug. 12 at 1:45 p.m., another 66-year-old woman was out walking on Brimorton Drive when "three suspects forcefully grabbed her purse, causing her to fall to the ground," police allege.

That woman also suffered minor injuries.

Last Wednesday, police say a 72-year-old woman out walking in the Ellesmere Avenue and Markham Road area was approached from behind at 4:12 p.m.

"One of the suspects pulled the victim's purse from her shoulder before all three men ran off," police allege. "The victim tried unsuccessfully to chase after the suspects."

Police say they arrested three suspects on Monday.

Ramanand Gangaram, 21, and two youths -- aged 13 and 15 respectively -- are each charged with three counts of robbery. All three are Toronto residents.

The youths cannot be named due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused were scheduled to appear in an Eglinton Avenue East courtroom on Tuesday.
