TORONTO -- A man in his 20s has been critically injured in a shooting in Mississauga Monday evening.

Emergency crews were called to a townhouse complex on Guildwood Way and Huntington Ridge Drive, east of Mavis Road, just after 9:30 p.m. for reports of shots fired.

"Our homicide bureau has been notified. However, they have not taken carriage of this (investigation) at this point," Patten said.

"It's my understanding that he does know the occupants of the residence. I have not been made aware if he's actually residing at the residence where he was located."

Patten said officers also recovered multiple shell casings on the scene.

Investigators are talking to residents and canvassing the neighbourhood for surveillance video.

Patten said witnesses told police that a vehicle seen fleeing from the residence at the time of the incident.

However, there is no suspect information at this time.

"Anyone with any witness information, anything that can help investigators is greatly appreciated," Patten said.
