Police are investigating a stabbing that took place outside a Winners department store on Thursday afternoon.
A man walked into the store located at 3701 Lawrence Avenue East, east of Markham Road, just before 3 p.m. and told staff that he had been stabbed in the abdomen.
The victim, who is believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to a trauma centre.
Const. Wendy Drummond told ctvtoronto.ca that the victim was conscious and breathing at the time he was taken to the trauma centre.
Drummond said police have taped off the area where the stabbing occurred and are hunting for a male suspect.
The suspect is described as a 25-year-old black male with a light complexion, who stands approximately 5'8" to 5'10" in height.
He has a moustache and was wearing black shorts, a white T-shirt, as well as a Blue Jays hat at the time of the stabbing.
