A 24-year-old man stabbed in Mississauga over the weekend died of his injuries in hospital Tuesday night, Peel Regional Police have confirmed.

The stabbing occurred on Acorn Place, near Eglinton Avenue and Hurontario Street, on Sunday at about 9 p.m.

Investigators believe the victim was involved in some sort of verbal altercation before he was stabbed.

Police say the victim was pronounced dead in hospital at around 8:45 p.m.

The man's name has not been released.
