Police have identified a man wanted in connection with a violent sexual assault in Scarborough Village last week.

According to police, a 25-year-old woman was walking in the area of Markham and Kingston roads when she was approached by a man.

The woman told police she was taken to a private residence in the area where she was sexually assaulted and beaten.

In a release issued Monday, police identified a suspect and issued a warrant for an arrest in connection with the case.

Toronto resident Steve Alexander Levy, 41, is wanted by police for two counts of assault or cause bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault, forcible confinement, overcome resistance or attempt to choke someone and theft under $5000.

Levy is described as being approximately five-foot-eight and 165 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and several tattoos on his upper torso and arms.

Police believe he may be driving a black, 2005 model Honda Accord with an Ontario license plate reading CABM 880.
