A man in his 20s is recovering in hospital Friday after he was shot in the shoulder while riding a public transit bus in Toronto's west end.
The man was not the intended target of the shooting, police said. Investigators said they don't know whether the shooter was aiming at the bus or whether the vehicle was hit by a stray bullet.
The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries. He is resting comfortably in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
No arrests have been made in the shooting. It took place at around 9:15 p.m. on a TTC bus heading southbound on Arleta Avenue as it approached Sheppard Avenue, east of Jane Street.
A bullet struck the window of the bus, shattered the glass and struck the commuter in the shoulder. Police say the shooter was probably standing near a townhouse complex nearby.
Many witnesses in the area have come forward to speak with police, according to authorities.
Investigators are also looking at video footage taken from security cameras on the TTC and businesses in the area.
On Friday, residents told CTV Toronto that the shooting left them shaken. One man waiting for the bus noted it could have been him.
Police are checking to see if any security camera footage in the area could help them identify the shooter.
