Toronto police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting at a Toronto Community Housing Corporation building early Monday morning.

The shooting happened in the stairwell of an apartment building near the intersection of Markham Road and Eglinton Avenue East, shortly after 3:20 a.m.

Toronto EMS said the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified by Toronto Police on Monday evening as Dillon Phillips, 22, of Toronto.

Police said Phillips was not a resident of the building at 3171 Eglinton Ave., but had been living in the Toronto area with various friends. They believe he may have been visiting someone at a nearby apartment building before the shooting.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any information on Phillips' whereabouts for the last 24 hours, to contact police.
