ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- Niagara Region police say a Hamilton man faces charges after a farm tractor was involved in a fatal collision Thursday evening in the Township of West Lincoln (on Silver Street near Port Davidson Road).

Police say at about 9:30 p.m., the driver was hauling farm equipment behind the tractor when that equipment hit an oncoming car, killing a 55-year-old man from Fonthill, Ont., who was alone in the car.

Investigators say the man driving the tractor stopped briefly before leaving the scene.

Police say they later located the tractor on a Smithville farm.

Benjamin Klunder, 25, has a court date Friday to face charges of criminal negligence causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

This collision remains under investigation. The victim's name has not been released.
