A man in a parachute escaped injury after he got tangled in a tree near the Scarborough Bluffs Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency responders got a call at 12:42 p.m. saying that a man and his parachute were hanging from the tree at 68 Fordover Dr., just north of Lake Ontario.

The man in a blue jumpsuit and a yellow helmet was caught high in one tree, while his billowy white parachute was tangled in the branches of an adjacent tree.

A witness reported that the man was trying to launch his glider from nearby Greyabbey Park.

"The next thing you know, a gust of wind came in and just threw him back on land right on the top of this huge tree," Andrea Wolozczuk told CTV Toronto.

A woman who was walking her dog in the park saw the man launch off a small hill. He did a loop over the lake before the wind caught him and blew him into the tree. The man climbed down from the tree without injury.

Witnesses say they have seen him sail along the bluffs before, and he told them he has hit the trees before.

But late this afternoon he came back for it, attempting to climb the tree in a harness. However, police stopped him, noting an old city bylaw forbade climbing trees in city parks.
