One man is dead and another is facing multiple charges, including impaired driving, after a fatal collision on Highway 400 near Barrie early Friday morning.

Orangeville resident Adam Rabolt has been charged after a Ford Focus went airborne and hit a clump of trees on the highway shoulder between Aurora Road and King Road, killing the passenger.

Police said the deceased, 25-year-old Darren McMullin, wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Rabolt has been charged with impaired driving causing death, driving over 80 kilometres, being a class G-2 licence holder with blood alcohol content over zero, and using a plate not authorized for the vehicle. He's slated to appear Friday in Newmarket Criminal Court.

Highway 400 Southbound lanes were closed at the crash site when rush hour started Friday morning, but have since re-opened.

OPP are investigating and asking any one who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Aurora detachment at 905-841-5777.
