A man has been taken to hospital without vital signs after being stabbed repeatedly in the head and chest.

Toronto police were called to Wallace Avenue, near Bloor Street and Lansdowne Avenue, just after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Officers found a man, believed to be in his 20s, suffering from numerous stab wounds to both his head and chest.

Paramedics took the unidentified victim to St. Michael's Hospital.

Police have not released a motive in the attack or a description of the suspect.

Witnesses said they saw a young man, aged 19 or 20, running from the scene.
