One man has been fatally shot after a police standoff with an armed suspect on Sherbourne Street near Carlton Street.
The man was pronounced dead on scene, according to EMS.
Police had earlier cordoned off the area after a man barricaded himself behind a building on the street following a brief foot pursuit at around 12:30 p.m.
The shooting then occurred at around 1:45 p.m.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked their mandate and has assigned six investigators and three forensic investigators to the case.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
