A man who was left trapped inside his car following an early-morning traffic collision has died in hospital, Toronto police said on Friday.

A man in his 30s suffered serious head injuries when a Dodge Ram and small Toyota car collided at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Curlew Drive, west of Victoria Park, shortly before 6 a.m.

Police said the Dodge was westbound on Lawrence at the time of the crash, while the Toyota was turning from eastbound Lawrence to head north on Curlew.

The man was left trapped inside his vehicle until he was freed by emergency responders. He was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital with life-threatening head injuries, were he later died of his injuries.

Lawrence Avenue is currently closed near the scene of the collision for the police investigation. TTC buses have also been rerouted from the area.
