FORT ERIE, Ont. - Police in the Niagara Region say a man has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police say they were called to a Fort Erie, Ont., home to check on a person's welfare on Saturday morning, and the Emergency Tactical Unit and negotiators responded.

They say that after about five hours, a man was taken into custody.

Investigators say they found human remains on the property, and a 32-year-old Fort Erie man was charged.

They say medical experts are working to identify the victim.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.
