EARLTON, Ont. - Police in northern Ontario say a 26-year-old woman found dead in a ditch along Highway 11 on Saturday was hit by a car.
Police say Marie Cloutier was killed after getting out of a moving vehicle voluntarily and being run over. She suffered severe head injuries.
Police found her body, which had been moved, on the side of Highway 11, north of Earlton, Ont., at 4:20 a.m.
Franklin Keith Kirkham is charged with impaired driving causing death, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired driving and operation of a motor vehicle while having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.
A bail hearing will be held Monday in Earlton, located between Englehart and New Liskeard on Highway 11.
Hometowns of the victim and the accused weren't released.
