A 24-year-old man who had been sought in connection to the 2007 shooting death of a Toronto teenager has turned himself in to police.

Pierre Oliver Ellis surrendered to police and was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday, nearly four months after police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Keyon "Ace" Campbell, 16, was shot outside of his home in the Finch and Morningside Avenues area on Dec. 2, 2007. He was the 80th homicide of that year.

Campbell was playing video games with friends on the night of his death. When he stepped out to warm up his mother's car at around 1:30 a.m. he was shot.

Police say Campbell made it back inside his home, where he collapsed. His mother tried to revive him, but he died after being rushed to hospital.

Earlier this year, police issued an arrest warrant for Ellis, a rap artist who is known as "Capitol P."

Ellis denied involvement in Campbell's death in a music video posted to YouTube in 2009. In it, he says he had nothing to do with killing "Ace" and says he treated him better than his own brother.

The video includes several gun references and shows Ellis smoking what appears to be marijuana.

"Didn't reach the funeral, hate seeing sad faces," Ellis rhymes at one point. "What you never think I never loaded up my shell cases?"

None of the allegations against Ellis have been proven in court. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
