One man was arrested and charged Monday after armed police officers surrounded a home in Toronto's north end following a stabbing.
Police responded to a distress call at a home on Halesia Drive, near Finch Avenue West and Highway 27, at 10:30 a.m.
Officers discovered two men standing at a nearby bus stop, covered in blood.
Police allege the men told officers that a man inside a nearby rooming house had tried to kill them.
Police said that the accused entered the first victim's bedroom and began stabbing the 44-year-old man in the face and stomach.
From there, the accused found the second victim, a 62-year-old man, in another part of the house and began stabbing him around the head, police said.
One officer told CTV Toronto's Tamara Cherry that it appeared the men had been cut by a broken beer bottle.
Toronto emergency crews rushed two patients to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Another person was treated at the scene.
Police set up a command post outside the rooming house as a tactical crew swept the grounds.
A male suspect was arrested shortly before noon.
Ahmed Abdurahaman Ahmed, 28, of Toronto, faces seven charges including: break and enter, two counts of aggravated assault, threatening death and two counts of assault with a weapon.
He will appear in court on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.
